Vocal Music

“David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy." - 1 Chronicles 15:16 (ESV)

ELEMENTARY (PreK-5)

Music is a fun, educational tool for learning. Students from the earliest age use language curricula that involve singing. They also work with a dedicated elementary music teacher twice a week, who introduces music theory concepts like rhythm paired with movement and explores various vocal styles. Students perform programs for grandparents and parents throughout the school year. 

 

SECONDARY (Grades 6-12)

Middle and high school students have Choral music as a fine arts elective where they study music theory and its history, which has roots in the church as a form of worship. Students also participate in co-curricular experiences such as: 

• Concerts

• Chapel worship services 

• All West and All State Honor Choirs

• Workshops with renowned clinicians/conductors at the University of Memphis

• Field trips that enhance and enrich classroom content

• Leadership opportunities

• Service and performance opportunities through TriM Music Honor Society

• Musical productions, in partnership with the FACS Theatre Department
