FACS offers an award-winning band program under the direction of Ben Hembruch.
FACS students may participate in band in grades 6-12.
The sixth grade beginner band performs two or three times per year. The junior high band (grades 7-8) performs two concerts each year, marches in parade with the high school, and travels in the spring for a festival competition. Some junior high students march with the high school band in competitions and at athletic events.
The high school band begins in the summer with band camp, competes in several marching competitions during the fall, performs at all home football games, performs two concerts per year, and travels in exhibition each spring. Band students also participate in All West Tennessee Band, All West Tennessee Orchestra, All State Band, and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Colorguard is available for secondary school girls. The guard performs with the marching band in the fall and on exhibition for spring travel.
In addition, students in elementary and secondary school may take private lessons through the FACS School of Music. Lessons in piano, guitar, and voice are held during and after school.
