Field Trips

Memphis Botanical Garden

FACS students take field trips in both elementary and secondary school. Students are required to provide signed parental consent forms prior to each field trip. Typical field trip costs range from about $5 to about $15. Most elementary students are transported via carpool in parents' vehicles. Junior high and high school students often ride in school mini-buses. Some lengthy trips, such as the sixth grade trip to Chatanooga and the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C., utilize chartered commercial buses.

In accordance with Tennessee law, students who are under the age of 9 and weigh less than 90 pounds are required to travel in booster seats. Parents must provide booster seats before these children are allowed to travel to field trips.
