At FACS, a Christian education encompasses more than academics. When they're not working math problems or writing essays, our students might be found sharing smiles with senior citizens at area nursing homes, collecting food for a partner church in the inner city, or making crafts to raise funds for an impoverished African village.
Perhaps our most visible service project is our longstanding partnership with Samaritan's Purse to provide gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children for Christmas. Students in grades junior kindergarten through twelve participate in this annual project, filling hundreds of boxes with toys, candy, school and hygiene supplies and other items. Our elementary students work extra math assignments each spring as part of a pledge drive to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
We also partner each year with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes to seriously ill children in the Mid-South. The spring of 2008 marked our first partnership with a Habitat for Humanity building project.
Individual classrooms in elementary school complete community service projects throughout the year, as do most of our secondary clubs.
FACS faculty and administrators especially appreciate the time and energy donated by parents to help students grow in their service to others.
