The sixth grade band performs two times per year. The junior high band (grades 7-8) performs two concerts each year and travels in the spring for a festival competition. The high school band begins in the summer with band camp, competes in five or six marching competitions during the fall, performs at all home football games and some away games, plays at home basketball games, plays in several concerts per year, and travels for spring festival competition. Band students also participate in All West Tennessee Band, All West Tennessee Orchestra, All State Band, and Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Colorguard is available for junior and senior high girls. The senior high guard performs with the high school band and in winterguard. The junior high guard prepares all year for winterguard. Both guards travel with the bands in the spring.
As an alternative or additional instrumental music option, students in
elementary and secondary school may take private lessons through the FACS School of Music. Lessons in piano, violin, guitar and band instruments are held during and after school. Kindermusik is also available for our youngest students.
